Moodle/Banner Integration

mbExciting Moodle news. Moodle has been integrated with Banner!! A huge thank you goes out to the IT department for their work to help make this happen.

What this means to you – your class has been built automatically, you are assigned the role of teacher, and your students are automatically added and dropped, in real time, as they add and drop classes through the Whittier College registrar. All classes are hidden until you make them visible. If you don’t want to use Moodle you don’t have to do anything. The class will be invisible to students. If you want to use your Moodle class then just follow these easy steps to make it visible.
  1. Log onto Moodle
  2. You will see the courses that belong to you under My Courses (upper left-hand side of the screen)
  3. Click on the plus (+) sign next to Fall 2009.
  4. Click on the class you want to make visible
  5. Click on Settings (in the Administration box inside the class)
  6. Scroll down to Availability
  7. Click the down arrow next to Availability and Choose
  • This course is available to students
Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save Changes
Repeat for each class that needs to be visible
Just to clarify you don’t need to make your course visible before you begin working on it. You only need to make it visible once you want students to be able to access it. If you have already begun constructing your class in the Fall 2009 holding area we are in the process of importing those classes into the new Fall 2009 area and will have this process completed by Thursday 8/20. Anything that you’ve already created will be imported intact. If there are any problems or if you need to have your class imported before Thursday please call us. As always, please call or stop by the Library if you need any assistance in making your class visible, adding your syllabus, or adding any material that you would like students to have access to. We’ll be glad to make appointments to go over Moodle in part, or in depth, depending on your need.

We’re also planning, in the next week or so, on upgrading to Moodle version 1.9.5 which includes Gradebook improvements. We will post a notice when this is completed.
