Last spring, Whittier College amended its grading policy for credit/no credit options due to COVID 19. Even though the health crisis is still with us as we return for the Fall 2020, the situation is no longer considered an outright emergency, and it is important for the College to return to its normal policies that have been carefully implemented over decades and which include many provisions for individual students who might experience a crisis. This decision is the result of careful consideration of student and faculty feedback from last semester, student grade outcomes from Spring 2020. The deadline for credit/no credit for Fall Module 1 is Friday, October 9, 2020. Please use the Credit/No Credit Form to request this option.
Most courses at Whittier College are graded from A to F with the awarding of (+) or (-) grades at the discretion of the instructor; however, by the fourth week of the semester, and at the discretion of the instructor, the student may be given the choice of Credit/No Credit (CR/NC). CR- and NC-grades are not used in the calculation of grade point averages, however the student will receive the credit hours if they pass the course with at least a C- minimum. Freshman Writing Seminars may not be taken for CR/NC.
