The course is designed to introduce students to the history of Mexico from the Porfiriato (1870s) to the recent victory of Vicente Fox and the political party known as the PAN (2000). While many events and processes will by studied, our main focus is to understand the history of the rise and fall of the political party that took over the Mexican State after the Revolution (1910-1920) and led Mexican economic development and political life for most of the 20th century, the PRI.
