This course designed for beginning art majors and non-art majors (those students who wish to learn the fundamentals of drawing). The course explores the techniques, media, and concepts of drawing. Emphasis is placed on observational study of composition, space, proportions, line, light logic, value, texture and etc. Representative topics include observation, perception, and the drawing process; contour and line; value, volume, and light theory; composition and pictorial structure; and linear perspective. Representation (drawing from life) will be a strong focal point of this course, used in order to master basic observational skills. Patience, hard work and the ability to focus will be necessary to complete this course.
