Hi, everybody.
The purpose of this course is to introduce you to journalism. This is a much more complex undertaking than it might seem at first. The current public discourse is fraught with misunderstanding about what journalism is and what is its purpose in a functioning, democratic society. My hope is the you come aware from this class with a better appreciation for the critical role of journalism and journalists in our society and culture, that you are much savvier consumers of journalism and that you are prepared to be practitioners if you feel so compelled.
I'm looking forward to this ride. It will be bumpy at times, it will have its lulls, but I'm pretty sure it will also be exhilarating.
