The goal for this course is to provide a basis for a deeper, more complex understanding of infants and toddlers' behavior and self-regulatory capacity through the lens of social-emotional learning and development. Students will examine infant/toddler behavior through Bowlby's Attachment theory, Erikson's Psychosocial stages of Human Development, and Freudian's Psychosexual stage theory, etc. Applications of these theoretical perspectives will be systematically studied through observations, caregiver interviews, and reflective class discussions.
