Sports Documentaries and Social History examines sports from both a historical and social context with special emphasis on political, ethical, and social issues in our global world. Documentary films will be viewed by the students to capture their interest and provide a historical timeline to begin topic discourse. The :30 for :30 and E:60 documentary series combine sports and an inquiry-based presentation of key topics and issues through which the students are able to explore significant events in social history. Students will be able to engage in social history through the lens of sport at a personal, institutional and national level. Students will be able to reflect and ask inquiry-based questions utilizing social studies concepts and tools, evaluate evidence and share their findings in both oral and written presentations.
