Course Description and Objectives:  The earth’s environmental systems are often broken into the atmosphere, hydrosphere and lithosphere.  In this course you will develop an understanding of the chemical systems involved in each of these environmental systems as well as the effects of anthropogenic activities. These environmental systems are quite complex and interdependent.  We will approach our study by considering the cause and effects of inputs and outputs to the environmental systems as well as taking time to review the fundamental chemical concepts involved.  This laboratory portion of the course will introduce you to environmental analysis techniques.  I hope that you will apply what you learn to local issues and your everyday life.

Class Meetings:  The class meets Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10:00 a.m. – 10:50 a.m. in Science 301.  Additionally we will meet Wednesday from 1:30 - 4:30 p.m. in Science 314 for the laboratory portion of the course.
